ORCHESTRA CELEBRATES ITS ANNUAL GALA AT THE STATE HOUSE

April 20, 2011 - The Boston Landmarks Orchestra will hold its 2011 Gala at the
State House on June 13 from 6-8 p.m. Co-Chair Governor Deval Patrick will
introduce the new Music Director Christopher Wilkins.

ÒWe are so delighted
to have the opportunity to celebrate our first season of our second decade at
the State House with all our partners and friends,Ó said Board Chair Jeff
Makholm. ÒThis is not a traditional sit-down dinner, but an event where people
can meet one another, listen to wonderful music, have some great food, and
enjoy one anotherÕs company,Ó he continued.

The Gala will
feature musical performances by the El Sistema Orchestra at the Conservatory
Lab Charter School. It is the only Boston elementary school that offers a
project-based, music-infused, interdisciplinary academic curriculum that
deepens studentsÕ appreciation of the role of music in the world and promotes
opportunities for students to create, perform, and achieve scholastic
benchmarks.

Members of the
Landmarks OrchestraÕs brass section and baritone Dana Whiteside will also
perform. While guests enjoy food catered by BakerÕs Best and taste local
Massachusetts wine, a dance band featuring Berklee faculty member Steve Heck
and his colleagues will conclude the evening.
